These are painted with a brush. Sony paid someone with talent to put them
on walls around the lower east side.

Eventually the people who do this kind of painting for fun, grow up, and some of them go into advertising. The classic recent example of this type of astroturfing is the Microsoft Butterfly case in NYC.
That said, these are cooler, I think than anything I've seen so far. Sony did pay someone talented to do these, as they were executed freehand with a paintbrush.
AND on the corrugated metal grates at that. So somehwere in here, I think a couple of real artists got paid :)
